National Road Championships.

The team has had a busy summer and the following days will decide who may race at Worlds..National titles and the next steps for many of our crew.

Under the guidance of our team Director, Nigel Ellsay, the team as explored their limits racing 2 months this summer in Europe. A couple of the racers are brand new and fresh from junior, thrown into some challenging arenas. A few with more high level racing under their belts, have had the chance to test their form and work on their racing game.

We are incredibly happy with the ability shown by Thomas Schellenberg, Carson Miles and Ethan Pauly in particular. All three showed strength and skill to be part of the National team projects and race the biggest development races in Europe, including the Tour de lAvenir, a race that has started the careers of numerous Tour de France and world champions over the years.

The younger and newer racers such as Braden Kersey showed impressive progress and ability in their first year racing anywhere near this level.

The 2 month stint for TaG Cycling Race Team in Belgium,France and Switzerland, carried through to be a support system for the National Team project that finished off the month of August.

Nigel stayed the month as support for National Team. TaG had him in a position to be able to help staff the Canadian development projects. This was significant value added to the program for Canada to have someone of Nigel’s capability on board with no extra cost to them. This meant more could be done by the group whilst over there.

Nigel acted as assistant director for all the u23 racing and then moved over to the junior mens program for the remainder.

This was a true collaboration and maximization of resources to get the most possible riders in Europe in a development phase.

2 of our junior women were also in Europe, prior to Nationals. Ana Large was part of the junior womens project, and Mara Roldan was selected to the MTB World Championship team in Val di Sole.

Nigel has been full on, and will fly right to St Georges Quebec to manage the Nationals Sept 9 to 13.

Thank you for believing in this program. This is all made possible by the collective support of some amazing people, and the tireless work of our new director for 2020 and 2021, Nigel Ellsay.

All the Best
